I’ve heard that people refer to women who have tattoos on their lower back as having a tramp stamp.
cabsmommy asked:
I have a tattoo on the small of my back but I have mom and her birth and death dates there. Can that really be considered a tramp stamp If you’re wondering why I got it there, at the time, I thought it was different because a lot of people didn’t have them there. Plus all the tattoos I have I put in places where clothing can hide them so I can still look professional in a work setting.

So what’s your question?
December 8th, 2009 at 11:48 am
never heard that but I think its a pretty funny saying. No offense, I am sure your not a tramp and with the Mom tattoo….its not the same thing. If you like it, who cares what people say?!

until i started answering questions, i’ve never heard the term ‘TRAMP STAMP. it’s just plain stupid to label someone for a tattoo and where they chose to place it. what do people call men that have a lower back tattoo?
December 13th, 2009 at 1:58 am
It is referred to as that. I have one as well, but got it there before it became a popular spot and because it is easiest place to cover in a professional work setting, but still can be easily visible when you would like. I also like the spot because you don’t look at it everyday (I forget mine is there a lot) making is hard to get tired of.
I wouldn’t take it to heart…

They’re called tramp stamps when they’re in somewhat of the shape of an arrow pointing in the downward direction. Like a sort of insert here type tattoo. Thats when they’re ****** and considered tramp stamps. i wouldn’t worry about yours.

why do we have to lable anybody with a tattoo..people have been doing that long before jesus appeard…im sure back then no one said much…but in todays genre people have to lable everything and everybody so they can seperate the people that are accepted and the ones that aren’t..i,ve had mine since 1965 and dont regret it one bit…get what you want were you want..its your body
December 16th, 2009 at 12:53 am
Yeah that’s what people call them. My opinion is if you want a tattoo there then get it.
I have heard a lot of different reasons for them being called that including..
Only a tramp would let someone tattoo her there.
They want attention and have no problem lowering their pants to show their tattoo and azz so they are a tramp.
Girls get tattoos there so their boyfriends can see it during ***.
Some girls get a tattoo there to be marked/branded as property of their boyfriend.
Lots of other ones that I won’t repeat lol ..

i suppose it’s what is written on back yours sounds nice
and has a meaning
my next door neighbour has ask before entering but then again she is a bike (tramp)

yes that is what the tatoo in that spot is called but each tattoo and piercings have a name for them so that does not mean ur a tramp thats just the name for the tattoo spot…

That wouldnt be considered a tramp stamp it is a tribute to ur mother.
What a trampstamp refers to is the tribal designs, butterflies, etc… things of that nature. I have heard my guy friends refer to those types of tattoos this way because it is like a bulls eye for the easy type of girls. Also they say it is something to look at when a girl is bent over during ***.
I think that is ridiculous…if that is where you want your tat, then put it there. Dont worry about it!

Hi… I have a tattoo on my lower back as well and I’ve never had anybody refer to it that way. Of course, it is the word OZ.. as in The Wizard Of… but I have heard it used in reference to other people. But seriously, who cares what it’s called? As long as you like it, and clearly you do because it has very special meaning, it doesn’t matter what others think. Personally I think the one you have is really sweet.

It can if people are stupid, and believe everything that Owen Wilson and Vince Vaugn say in FICTIONAL movies…
*smacks forehead*
Ignore the ignorance, Girl. I’m in the same boat. 8 tattoos so far, including one on my lower back and on my girl part, all my ink CAN be covered up(and usually IS! I got/get them for ME!)

Where it with pride and realize whatever anyone has dubbed anything, there are ulterior motives……..or at least personal intentions for the title by the dubber…….how gender biased is that statement (tramp stamp)? and the word tramp at all, whatever…..I love the English language and how it has been used to form the roles expected of men and women and to keep us tramps in our place…..( I have quite a few tats, and they are hot).
December 26th, 2009 at 2:12 pm
yeh it is sometimes refered to thast by different people so if u come across someone sayin its a tramp stamp just ask them why and say your not a tramp and tell them to shut up basically. the label means nothin because you and many others with that tattoo are not tramps and if they were before they got one done it doesnt mean the tattoo changes anything just like if you werent a tramp and had the lower back tattoo it doesnt mean it wil suddenly change you into a tramp….if you get what i mean.
if you feel happy with your tattoo then good for you and why does the place of a tattoo have to mean anything about the person…it should be the type of tattoo that means something about the person e.g. a big arrow pointing down to their crotch would maybe label them as easy but yours seems lovely so who cares what some tattoos are labelled as….yours isnt a tramp stamp
December 29th, 2009 at 10:13 am
well i have heard that getting a tattoo on the lower back is called a tramp stamp but honestly what do you think about it? if you like it who cares what other people think or say. you’re the one that walks around with it and if you like it thats all that matters.

first, i have a tattoo similar on my lower back. its a cross with a ribbon wrapped around it with my moms initials who passed away when i was 12 and there are roses on each side of the cross. it pisses me off when people refer to it as a tramp stamp, im always like hell yea! im a tramp because i got a tattoo in rememberance of my mom!! its B.S. and anybody that calls them that i think should be slapped.
) lol i got mine there because i really wanted the tattoo and i wanted it in a place that could be covered up. the only time it ever shows is if im in a swim suit, and thats fine by me if the whole world doesnt see it because i know its there and i know how much it means to ME, i dont care what it means to everyone else. im happy and love it and wouldnt take it back at all
January 6th, 2010 at 11:14 am
I have a tattoo there and so does my mom. I **** the label tramp stamp. Just because you have a tattoo there is no indication of you being a tramp. I would really like to know who coined that phrase so i can slap them. I have 3 tattoo’s and all of them are in places I can hide for the office or show off if I want to.
January 9th, 2010 at 8:22 pm
It has sentimental value to you..it is not a tramp stamp. Some people may think it is but then again some people are sheep.
January 11th, 2010 at 5:34 pm
no matter what people say, thats what they’re called. all my friends got tramp stamps but me! =)
January 12th, 2010 at 7:42 pm
lol i had mine there cos at the time not many people had one there and i could cover it too lol, ignore what anyone else says.
January 15th, 2010 at 8:44 am
That is a memorial tattoo that just happens to be on your lower back. I think the phrase ‘tramp stamp’ was coined by tattoo haters and is poor use of slang. They look great.
